History Graduate Student Association September Meeting – Sept. 30, 2022 

 

Grant Wording 

• Half written email so far, will include traveling fees, resource access, and conference fees 
• No funds for material or website 
• Grant acceptance will be known by October 25th 
• "The HGSA grant cannot pay for materials that fall beyond travel expenses, conference registration fees, and/or direct research expenses (i.e., copy fees, visitor library cards, etc.) We are also limiting the fund to a max of $250 per applicant.” 

 

Question on: Events other than Happy Hour 

• Luncheon, or some kind of outing (may cost lots of $) 
• Bowling Night (alcohol optional) 
• Saturday Insertion (explore Frigid Waters, or somewhere outside of the city) 
• Mario Kart Night!!! (or Mario Party; we could rent a room at the SUB) 
• Faculty Event (now that Covid restrictions are loosened; which would take place at the end of the semester)  

 

Colloquium 

• We have a professor from Texas A&M who wants to give a guest lecture via Zoom
• Any other guest speakers who want to give a lecture? Let us know!

Richard Maska (Former HGSA President) PSA 

• Union Update, a new contract with UNM 
• Negotiations may take longer than expected 
• Elections next week (Oct. 3-7) for new stewards 
• Contact: jukockis@unm.edu if interested, or sign up at: https://unmgrads.ueunion.org/join.us/  
• Aiming for a new contract by the end of the semester 
• Contact Support Committee meetings are held every Thursday (except the third Thursday of the month), at 5:30 pm, in person at 3003 Monte Vista Blvd.
